Sensory Learning: Rapid Extraction of Meaning from Noise
نویسنده
چکیده
Recent studies show that humans can rapidly learn to differentiate originally meaningless sounds into long-lasting memories, illustrating the flexibility of sensory processes and raising important questions about how sensory memories are formed.

Changes in Sensory Evoked Responses Coincide with Rapid Improvement in Speech Identification Performance
Perceptual learning is sometimes characterized by rapid improvements in performance within the first hour of training (fast perceptual learning), which may be accompanied by changes in sensory and/or response pathways. Here, we report rapid physiological changes in the human auditory system that coincide with learning during a 1-hour test session in which participants learned to identify two co...
متن کاملDenoising source separation: a novel approach to ICA and feature extraction using denoising and Hebbian learning
In this paper, we review the recently proposed denoising source separation (DSS) framework. In the DSS framework, source separation algorithms are constructed around denoising proceduces. The denoising should reflect the prior knowledge of the source characteristics and it can be procedural. Source separation methods are an active research topic in signal processing domain but they can also be ...
متن کاملThe effects of traffic noise on memory and auditory-verbal learning in Persian language children
Background: Acoustic noise is one of the universal pollutants of modern society. Although the high level of noise adverse effects on human hearing has been known for many years, non-auditory effects of noise such as effects on cognition, learning, memory and reading, especially on children, have been less considered. Factors which have negative impact on these features can also have a negat...
متن کاملAdaptive Filtering Strategy to Remove Noise from ECG Signals Using Wavelet Transform and Deep Learning
Introduction: Electrocardiogram (ECG) is a method to measure the electrical activity of the heart which is performed by placing electrodes on the surface of the body. Physicians use observation tools to detect and diagnose heart diseases, the same is performed on ECG signals by cardiologists. In particular, heart diseases are recognized by examining the graphic representation of heart signals w...
متن کاملExtraction of Sensory part of Ulnar Nerve Signal Using Blind Source Separation Method
A recorded nerve signal via an electrode is composed of many evokes or action potentials, (originated from individual axons) which may be considered as different initial sources. Recovering these primitive sources in its turn may lead us to the anatomic originations of a nerve signal which will give us outstanding foresights in neural rehabilitations. Accordingly, clinical interests may be r...
